Aquaterro - ADF Tiered Combat Helmet Program

Aquaterro - ADF Tiered Combat Helmet Program

Aquaterro is supplying and refurbishing the ADF’s fleet of tiered combat helmets at its dedicated facility

Since 2016, Aquaterro has supplied and supported the ADF for its combat ballistic helmets. The Team Wendy EXFIL helmet was selected after a globally competed tender process as the Tiered Combat Helmet (TCH). As the prime contract holder under LAND125.3B, Aquaterro has since delivered 65,000 x TCH for all services of the ADF.

Size 0

During the tenure of this program, Aquaterro has worked with Defence to add a “Size-Zero” helmet to the fleet, due to the success of the ADF “Women in Combat” initiative, which changed the anthropometric population of the Australian Soldier (5th to 95th Percentile) size range. A First in the World program.

Refurbishment

Aquaterro’s Tiered Combat Helmet Refurbishment project is a landmark initiative, underpinned by a $35m contract with the Australian Defence Force. This project reflects the confidence placed in Aquaterro’s capabilities as a technical inspection and complex programmes service provider. At the half-life (5 year) mark of a helmet’s shell, TCH are returned to Aquaterro’s Broad Arrow Forge centre, for inspection and thorough rebuild. With 750 helmets per month being processed, updated and returned to Defence, the refurbishment process ensures the longevity and performance of the Team Wendy EXFIL Tiered Combat Helmets, reinforcing Aquaterro’s commitment to providing top-tier personal protection equipment, and total program service provision.

CVC-E

Aquaterro also worked closed with Defence (Army HQ, CASG and Diggerworks) in advancing the Combat Vehicle Crewman (CVC) Helmet, to increase its performance monitoring, incorporate a technology upgrade (via addition of NVG compatibility). The ADF CVC-E (for Enhanced) is now Built in Australia at Aquaterro’s facilities. The CVC-E bears the “Peacemaker” trademark and an NSN as an Australian Product.

Helmet Covers

Working across the ADF/Department of Defence stakeholders, Aquaterro
designed and now manufactures the Helmet Covers for the TCH and CVC
helmet fleet. This 100% Designed and Made in Australia fleet of products are delivering Australian solutions into the hands (and onto the heads) of our war fighters. As part of this program – Aquaterro has become one of only a handful of companies to hold an AMCU (Australian Multicam Pattern – Uniform) License to manufacture textile goods from genuine AMCU pattern textiles – All being done at our Southeast Melbourne
facilities complex.
